DIABLO III
It's coming. Allow me to list off the evidence.
-This month, Blizzard bought the Diablo3.com domain name.
-Blizzard has confirmed they will announce a game at their upcoming WWI
-The event runs through June 29th, the same day Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction were released
-Blizzard's splash page shows rune symbols from Diablo 2.
-The page now also shows a pair of eyes. Here's a comparison of the splash image and Diablo 2's boxart.

It's 3:18 in the morning and I'm wide awake. This is why.

Sorry kids. Looks like this one is just something far less awesome than Diablo III.

Lame to the max. I had hoped it would be Diablo III. But, to me, it looks like an announcement for Wrath of the Lich King, something I couldn't care less about.
But I guess we'll all find out tomorrow.

You guys are killing me. Every forum I post this on someone thinks it's just the WoW expansion.
I repeat myself.
-Blizzard have CONFIRMED they will ANNOUNCE A NEW GAME at the WWI.
-The WWI runs ON THE SAME DAY that Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction came out.
-Blizzard bought the Diablo3.com domain name this month.
Lich King may very well be there. Same for StarCraft 2. But those are already announced, and a couple years old.
You don't call a worldwide invitational event just to give a couple release dates for games you announced a long time ago.
If it weren't Daiblo 3, they'd have said so. Case in point, last month or so when PC Gamer had an exclusive preview. Tons of people thought it was Diablo 3. Blizzard immediately said it was not Diablo 3. So why, this time, would they drop us breadcrumbs and build up our anticipation for a week just so they could crush it with WoW mobile?

I agree that, almost certainly, they will be announcing Diablo III this weekend. What I'm saying is the splash may or may not have anything to do with that at all. The site itself seems to be about something other than Diablo III.
Doesn't mean Diablo III isn't about to pop up with some more awesome random-generated, endless addiction, action packed goodness.

You're spot on there. The most probable guess is that the splash is referencing all three of Blizzard's big franchises. Some runes are from Diablo, some are from Starcraft, and some may be from WoW.
The same goes for the face. The first one was Diablo, this one could be a Protoss from Starcraft or the Lich King, and later tonight we'll see another.

Yep. The naysayers be damned. Cheers to the die hard fans out there who never lost faith. It's looking friggin' EPIC.

This doesn’t have to do much to impress me. I’m a fan of the genre, an infrequent addict, so to speak. I’ve burned out on Titan Quest, Hellgate London was a major abortion. An upgraded Diablo 2: LoD is just what the sorcerer conjured :hyper:
Form the gameplay vid’s, the witchdoctor looks cool, destructible environments look great, spells looks snazzy. I'm so glad blizzard realizes that not everybody likes MMO's. They could've made Diablo 3 a WoW offshoot, another subscribers money-tree, but they stayed loyal to the Battle.NET format. Good call, a win for the hardcore veterans.
Some may call it a boring clickfest. Well, that’s Blizzard's genre, and it looks like they are sticking with it for the entire series.
Have you seen the vid’s, sawn_off? The Witchdoctor has mad skillz, I’m totally going with that class in my first play :)

I've seen the main gameplay video on the official site, yes. I see Diablo 2 in there, and I see new and exciting things. It's a perfect sequel in my eyes.

It does indeed look like it'll just be Diablo 2 on crack. Which is totally not a complaint from me at all. Diablo 2 was one of the most addicting games I've ever played; My buddy and I co-op'd the entire game in, like, a week. They also look like they're gonna keep the action going like last time, as well. Unlike WoW was to me, Diablo 2 (and thus, from the looks, Diablo 3) always had you slaughtering enemies by the hundreds, and the addition of those little red health giving balls looks to increase the speed and pacing of the game.
And it's good to see they've still got the ol' TP. Never leave town without one.

I've watched the Gameplay Trailer for this, I played Diablo 2 a long time ago, but I can remember the game enough to know that they don't appear to have changed much in terms of Graphics, I'm not saying Graphics make the game, but they are important, considering the Graphics in other RPG games such as Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights 2, they have more at their disposal and I'm disappointed, just my opinion.
I find it very difficult to get into RPG games, I have Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Morrowind and Oblivion and I can play them for a while, but then I get bored with them, I'm often disappointed by how long it takes to level up a character to a suitable level, with each increased level requiring more and more experience points, I find it frustrating, but for some people, it's a hook.
I'm seriously hoping that there will be a single-player to this, I have never played WoW, for the sole reason that there is no offline mode, and going online requires a monthly payment, which I am unwilling to give them. If there's a single-player to this Diablo 3, then there's a chance that there will be a demo, which I am more than happy to try out.

Will Diablo III be playable over Battle.net? What new features can we expect?
A: Yes, Diablo III will be playable over Battle.net, and Battle.net will offer some exciting new features to enhance players' Diablo III experience. We'll announce specifics and go into much more detail at a later date.
Will there be a single-player component in addition to multiplayer?
A: Yes. In addition to battling the hordes of Hell cooperatively with friends over Battle.net, players will be able to adventure through the world of Diablo III solo. More details on both the single-player and multiplayer experience will be revealed at a later date.

The best part about this is that D3 will be a Battle.net title.
That means free multiplayer.
It's certainly not an MMO, and it shouldn't be that extensive on the multiplayer aspect. Just friends banding together on the same side to fight the AI controlled mobs.

I wouldn't play it if it didn't use Battle.net or some variant of free multiplayer platform using adverts to fund it.

I downloaded a free Shareware version of Diablo 2 yesterday, I have to say, it's not as I remember it, and I actually enjoyed playing it, for a game that's 10+ years old, it's quite good, will definitely try 3.

I loved Diablo 2 and LoD, the first game I wasn't all that partial to. However I always thought that Battlenet is pretty crap. There are far too many cheaters on there, and it detracts from the game's enoyability having characters running around with all the rarest weaponary and armour, all loaded up with SoJ's and gawd knows what other charms and trinkets. I've only ever found one piece of the set of The Immortal King, and damn have I put some hours into D2, yet everyone on there that plays as the Barbarian seems to have it, and in its entirety no less. I much prefer using a direct TCP/IP connection, with a friend or two, and that's exactly what I'll be doing with this, assuming it can be done without Bnet.
It's great to see this game is finally being made. I'm eager to see what a corrupt World Stone will do to our plane. This can't come soon enough. :)

I never played Battle.NET with anyone but people I knew. There's technically no point in using TCP/IP if you intend to play with just a few friends you know. A password protected Battle.NET game achieves the same thing albeit a lot quicker & without worrying about IP addresses.

It probably would be easier just to passworded Battle.net, if you're concerned about giving your IP out. Alternatively, and what I do, you could use a VPN such as Hamachi. This way you can have your own network of friends, and all you have to do to connect is give out your Virtual Private Network IP. VPN's can be used with most multi-player games too, so you're not just restricted to Battle.net. Linky Bits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi)
I put a ridiculous amount of time into Diablo 2. I had a level 83 Assassin, after LOD came out, obviously, a level 78 Barbarian and a level 50 Necromancer. Now that I have news of Diablo 3, I'm starting again with Calamity -who actually hasn't played it at all, much to my amazement. It's still not got all that tired, but I feel as though I'm wasting my existence when playing that game now. XD
I remember you saying that you played D2 until you were sick of it, and even wrote some fan-fiction? Maybe you should post it, you're a pretty good writer.

I also put a ridiculous amount of time into D2:LoD, as you’re memory correctly recalls. Had a much similar group of characters as you, though preference drew me more towards the Necromancer, Druid and Sorceress.
I don’t think I can stomach another round of it, though. When it comes to hack’n’slash games, they pull me in like a crack addict when I’ve been on a long withdraw from them, yet after a spell of playing them (last one was Titan Quest w/ Magnus), I feel, like you’ve said, that I'm wasting my existence a degree too far, and becoming a clicking automaton. I need to save my hack’n’slash mental incapacitation minutes for Diablo 3,.......maybe Space Siege as well.
PS. It was an actual movie script I was able to sell through an old contact. I believe I showed it to Dipper Dan or Unnamable. Looking back at it, it’s a pretty crappy script. My Yithian/Migo/Polyps in Star Trek script is far superior.

You managed to defeat Duriel with the necromancer too? That guy was as tough as nails, especially because once your minions have been slain there are no more bodies to pull more out of. That's probably the toughest boss I've had to fight in a clickety click game to date.
I bought Titan's Quest a while back, and tried playing with my buddy but just couldn't seem to get into it. I plan on having another attempt soon, with my lass. It didn't let me down as point and clicks go, but at the time I didn't have the time... What was I saying? This is no time to talk about time. We don't have the time. ;) That quote was probably ass about face.
I'm quite liking the look of Diablo III, Blizzard never seem to let me down, except I was kind of hoping that Decard Cain had been put on a rack in hell and flayed with a rusty bike chain by now. Other than that, *sphiiiing* I have a back up mouse already, just in case. Maybe we could get a game in sometime. If we ever have time. :)
EDIT: If you still see Dan and Unnamable, give them my regards, Magnus too. I haven't seen them in years.

Not really played the previous games (tried the demo of Diablo II over the weekend), but I'm really looking forward to the new one -- looks fantastic. I've not heard any talk of a release date, but it can't be that far off now, can it?
(Oh, I can't be the only one who thinks the new Monk character class (http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/monk.xml) has more than a passing resemblance to Max Payne 3).
