View Full Version : What Easter Eggs Do You Want To See?

Seeing as Alan Wake obviously borrows some themes and ideas from Twin Peaks, Stephen King etc. What would you want to make an appearance in the game?

A couple I could think of: (most of them are Stephen King nods)

- Find a clown inside one of the sewers (It)
- Have an Outlook hotel up in the mountains somewhere (Shining)
- Have twin albino children in the town (Village of the Damned)

More to come...

whatever is on your xbox360 camera on alan's TV, freeeaky.

You can't really do that. Because firstly it would cause an endless render, and secondly noone will play the game on Xbox360. ;)

The Jersey devil.

The Jersey Devil of lore does not look like anything humanoid. It is a creature with the head of a horse, large wings and claws, and has a roughly four-foot-long serpentine body. When a person sees the Devil, he or she sees an omen of disaster to come. According to early legends, its appearances have come before shipwrecks and the outbreak of war.

That is one of the greatest idea ever had by anyone. I will be incredebly angry if this doesn't apear in the game!

A couple more I thought of:

- In a dream/hallucination sequence, have a reference to Nightmare on Elm Street (gardening gloves on a table, a townsperson wearing a red and green jumper...)
- Find the body of Jason Voorhees at the bottom of the lake

How about finding a clearing in the woods with an old well which is covered with an imovale top (The Ring)?

Morry
07-10-2005, 02:51 PM
That would do nicely :)

Oh! Make the Jason Voorhees sound while you're in the woods.

actually as dumb as it sounds, I like the idea of having the Jersey Devil or Bigfoot as an easter egg.

but only if they are rarely seen, and if they are, they are a bit quicker on foot than your character is. This will create a few "wtf is that?" moments where you chase after a "creature" but it gets away from you eventually :)

would be great to have once you finish the game and decide to aimlessly explore around.

a pennywise the clown cameo wOULD be pretty cool, but will he be just lying dead in the sewer? or will he be an active npc, an enemy perhaps...

as for other eastereggs...the one thing in the nightmare on elmstreet series that consistently freaked me out where those little girls chanting and playing out in the streets... i don't know how it would work in context with alan wake though, but it would be a pretty cool easter egg....

I think Alan Wake should set something of a new standard instead of imitating existing ones. Too many eastereggs and associations to other movies and games could ruin the feel of the game. You often hear me talking about the feel in the game, and I really think AWs strongest side will be the feeling it will give the player and the atmosphere of the small town where the game is played.

I think it would be nice that appear in the game something about every Remedy game, an Easter Egg about Death Rally and two more about Max Payne 1 and 2.
Also, there would be great other Easter Eggs about thriller and terror movies, like "6th Sense", Stephen King and something like that.

Bye!

I'd also like to see a Remedy themed cabin hidden in the woods somewhere, with a grizzled-up and stressed-out looking Max Payne writing his manifesto inside.

an easter egg really completely different from any other game. i dont know if you get to travel through the forest in this game but if you do, it would be cool to see maybe some deer hunters that give you advice about the woods. or a cop that fits into the game that looks a lot like Max Payne.

Uisor

quaps also stated this, but it would be nice to have a newspaper there which says something about a gangwar in NYC and a hero cop, Max Payne. Also a reference to Death Rally would be great. Like miniature car race on someone's tabble, which is actually a circuit from DR and has minicars firing each others in there.

You know, I wouldn't mind hearing about D.i.c.k Justice on the television either. I think having Max Payne on the TV is almost too blatant. Could be OK, I guess. But D.i.c.k. Justice can be recognizable for those Max Payne fans.

(Gah, sorry to go around the word filter like that but c'mon .. it's a legendary name. :p )

I live here in the suburban woods of Atlanta and I remember back a couple of years ago a popular game to scare people is to tell them that Eric Ruldoph is watching us..... creepy.

So Eric Ruldoph will be a popular egg

I disagree with you. I will in fact be buying it on the 360.

And I like the clown idea.

I just watched the extended E3 trailer and it made me think of Secret Window. Maybe there could be a reference to that movie.

Alan Wake has so much potential it's not funny. There are just so many inspirational sources for the game to draw from. I hope it has its' own takes on many classic horror and thriller setups.

id like to see a tv with that thing with the flamingo, wasnt it called destination unkown or somethin'?,

or a secret silent hill 2 style "dog" ending ,but with the flamingo, lol.

now that'd be cool.

or a captain baseball batboy comic in one of the stores. or find cheif bravura on leave to heal his wounds.

Bravura:"you crazy son of a bitch, do you have any relatives called payne?"

Alan:"well, actually....".

1) Definitely TV series. I think it would be cool if you had a hut (house, flat?) to stay which would work similary as they work in GTA San Andreas. You would have a weapons there, medkits and other stuff and... TV :) So, Lords and ladies, D. Justice (;) ), Adress Unknown and some new one.
2) I like the bigfoot idea, but would have to be used reasonably and with sense.
3) Some X-Files references? (like the scream of the monster from this episode - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0751202/)
4) Max Payne reference is a must.

In every cases, with the nature of the game, easter eggs should be placed very rarely I think.

I always have fond memories of that X Files episode where there is some green life form like a bunch of gnats that only come out in darkness. It would be awesome to see a reference to that.

Oh yeah, these three (along with "Deep Throat") are definitely my favourite ones of the first series... maybe of all series...
Well there could be deserted loggers camp deep in the woods and maybe some cocoon up in trees...
