View Full Version : Pets
I figured there'd already be a thread like this, but I couldn't find one, so: Post pictures of your pets.
This is my 6 week old Pit, Buddy.

Heh, when ADM added photo albums to the forums, I promised Remedy I'd clog up their servers with photos of my parents cat. :)
True to my word, here's Rosie -- she's a bit of a slut, if I'm perfectly honest.

Cute your cats ! I like cats way much than the mutts.
Sorry guys but I think that Carlos is the cutest! :D
Found out today my dog has parvo, so the next week or so should be fun.
Plenty of bloody diarrhea, puke, and maybe even a little death. Isn't life fun.

sorry to hear that, man.
I lost a dog to cancer when I was a kid an it was hell on earth for me.
Parvo makes dogs pass lots of liquid, which can cause dehydration and can kill them, so the treatment is this I.V. solution that they inject under his skin. It swells up the size of a peach, and is literally just liquid nutrients that absorbs into his body over a 24 hour period. They inject it into his back, but gravity takes it's toll and it starts to sag down to the side. The process of injecting it is very painful.
We did it yesterday, and he was screaming, and we have to do it today, and the next day, and the next day, until the parvo passes. If he survives, which the odds aren't terrible that he will, I'm never going to get him to enjoy going to the vet again.
I didn't get any pictures of the liquid/camel thing while it was at full capacity, but here's some after a few hours. Sorry for the bad quality.

Bloody hell, I can't stand to see or hear animals suffering, not even sure I could be in the room while they administered the treatment, although I guess it's more comforting for him. I hope this passes quickly and he makes a full recovery, really sorry to hear that. :(
Firstly, I realize now that I've officially killed this thread. "Life threatening virus" is kind of hard to follow with a picture of a cute animal. Sorry about that.
Secondly, he's doing very well, all things considered. The injections today didn't really seem to hurt him as much, as he didn't make a noise.
Again, I didn't get a picture early enough to see the full thing (I'll try tomorrow), but here's one about an hour after the fact (best I could get)

you have a very cute dog. I would gave him a kiss and a hug. Man you just made me felt all emotional  but don't worry, I'm sure your dog will get well soon ;)
...And he's OK, folks. About 5 pounds underweight, but he'll make that up soon enough.

That's great news, afs. I'm relieved for you both. I worry about this sort of thing happening because animals can't tell you if they're in pain, you just have to look for signs. Great news!
Commence cute pet pictures! These are my pets, in order from cute to... I guess scary:

This will sound dumb but, spiders don't bite? And what can you actually do with them?
Spiders are cool animals BTW!
Gray Fox

Oh, yeah, they definitely bite, and they're venomous, that blue one is the worst of the bunch. :p Some of the bite reports for tarantulas are quite disturbing, and can range from minor aching and muscle cramps for a few days, right up to victims being in a comatosed state for 48 hrs. I've never experienced the latter, and I don't know anybody personally that has, but yeah severe muscle cramping and cold sweats and such.
I'm not sure what you could do with them, I mean, I guess you could defang one and put it on your head like Lemar, that pet face hugger from Half Life 2.
It's mostly about the housing that you can build for them to live in, and about just giving them a good home. The next time my camera is charged I'll get some shots of the enclosures that I keep them in, they're like mini, tropical habitats.
Ventral shot so you can see the fangs.

Jesus Christ that is scary
But well I guess all animals are dangerous, for example dogs. Yeah, they can bite and kill you, an cats could use it's claws to make serious eye damage.
But spiders... I don't know, they are so small but yet so scary and ... scary.
Thanks for answering and showing your spider's fangs, pretty badass!

Awww cute tarantula!
and Gray FOx, i belive you were wanting to say Head Crab, not face hugger. :p
Spiders are NOT cute! Although, I have to admit, I like the coloring on Dave.
As long as they don't do this, I'm cool:

Gaaah!
I'm scared to death of spiders.
No matter how big or small, as soon as one of them walks into the room I become a complete pussy.
I'd never hurt them though. My irrational fears shouldn't be their problem.

I'm afraid of spiders. When I was a kiddo, I killed them by stompin' on them.
I'm no spiderman.
BTW Fred is a cat ? Nice name for a classical music animal. From Frederick Francois Chopin. :) I played my fav RPG game, Eternal Sonata. :)

The only one out of those three that's any real danger is the Medusa, the Haplopelma Lividum, she's really, really aggressive. Like the trapdoor that afs linked to, she has webbing around the entrance of her borrow and if you disturb it with your hand there's a good chance you'll get tagged, more than once - she's that quick. The rest really aren't so bad. Dave is slow and silly, he's the ideal beginners tarantula, he does bite but never has, if you were to get bitten by him it would just feel like a bee sting.
The Avic, she just runs away unless provoked. The only thing you have to worry about with the her is... Well they fire poop at you when they feel threatened... And they're pretty good shots as well.

Yup, he's a cat, named after one of my favourite composers, he got the name because when he was a kitten he would run up and down on my piano, and sound suprisingly good some of the time. :p
Eternal Sonata is an amazing game, good choice. :D I got stuck just after Dolce, who by the way was a pain in the ass to beat!

Sorry man. I have a 7 year old Golden Retriever. He has had this large bump on his nose for years now. We've taken him to the vet multiple times. However every time we take him, the bump goes away. it's good and bad. It's good, cuz he's not in pain, but its bad cuz they can't examine it. Poor guy picks at it until it bleeds. Then when I try to sop up the blood on his nose he whimpers. He also has a minor problem with his leg (vet said it's cuz he's a senior).
But, yeah, sry to hear about ur dog man. :(
