I was wondering how they will attack alan. I don't think that they'll be using weapons yet simple melee attacks would seem strange. Any ideas?
They shoot red laser beams from their eyes, only you dun see their eyes, so it looks like they're coming out of the shadows within the hoods.

Those hooded dudes reminds me starange people to Kubrick film "eyes wide shut".
i wonder how many different,and what kind "monsters" or nightemares will come by AW.

Hmm. When I saw them in the trailer, I kind of smirked to myself asking the same question as you are asking right now. As well as "how will they attack?" I think the trailer lays it out pretty well though, they are the nightmares that Alan Wake creates in his novels. And further than that, I bet we'll have to complete the game to fully understand anything.
Just a hunch.
What about my theory of there being hooded chicks in the gang too?

When a day begin turn to afternoon,and afternoon to evening and night,that's the great thing in AW.Like the trailer show,where ever you are in the world of Alan Wake ,when the darkness come,town of bright falls will come dangerous and nightemares start to come true.

Hmm... I have a good marketing ploy for Remedy. They release a book. This book would be one of Alan Wake's horror novles. Perhaps a short story just to give us a little information of what kind of things like the "hooded dudes" that would be in the game. It would show a fourth dimension of gaming like ilovebees.com for Halo 2. Just a thought. Remedy, there is no copyright on this so you can do whatever you want "it." I would love to read it. Maybe even a online book, but it would be way cooler if I headed on down Barns & Noble's and found it sitting on the just in shelf. It appears as if I typed to much. Crap. Sorry
Yes, the book about Alan Wake's novel would be cool, but I don't think they should release it to the world as a book. Perhaps just eye candy to the Alan Wake players, like post it on the net or something.

Would be kinda cool with a book though.. That fans could buy through the website.. A sort of book with sketches and Concept art in it which would illustrate pars of the story etc. Like the books you get in the nursery except here the concept art would be somewhat dark and .... somethingsomething...

Actually, I was thinking that it would be a normal book you would buy, that actually had an author, and didn't have anything about a game in it. A story of Alan's that would show his nighmares. The hooded dudes could be part of that and that is what I was trying to get across.
That just sounds like too much work for Remedy. :sherlock:

They don't have to be some coherant being (alien, human, robot, etc..) Since the theme of the game is Alan's nightmarish novel coming to life, they could be any product of his imagination. I thought they looked like scarecrows to me.
What about hooded chicks? Aren't anyone even the slightest interessed that there might be hooded chicks too? :eek:

On the whole book topic, I would say that Remedy, instead of trying to put such a thing in bookstores like some have suggested, should just pull an ArenaNet and make a limited/collector's edition booklet to be included with the game for a little more cash, complete with sketches, short stories "by Alan Wake" involving the hooded... things, interviews, character bios, gameplay tips, etc.
Unlike so many ideas people have thrown out recently in the sticky for the game, I think this is actually a really solid idea you guys came up with about the whole Alan Wake story thing. Much better than having monkeys with cheese in the game, ala "What do you want to see in the game?" threads.
By the way, this forum topic is red-rangering so quickly it's frightening... they're under hoods, what does it matter if they're chicks? Or naked chicks? Or any such thing?
