...get Alice's voice for the phone calls when he never had her to begin with? Did I miss something?

I think it had something to do with a recording done by Dr. Hartman. But how it all makes sense is beyond me. ;)

Remember in I think Chapter 4, where you're in Hartman's office attempting to escape? There was an audio tape on his desk to listen to. In it is the exact line that Alice said in one of the calls- Alan even remarks on it after, that they (Mott and Hartman) had played a recording over the phone. They never did have her. And the recording was from Alice and Hartman's discussion before coming to Bright Falls.

Yeah, they cut parts of the recording to make a new conversation. I assume it was before the events of the game as Hartman states he had been speaking to Alice regarding Alan staying in the Lodge.

The third recording reveals Hartman has a thing for recording conversations the creepy little bugger.
