I just finished this game half an hour ago and im still sitting in my basement, with the TV on and the xbox running, trying to wrap my head around what the **** just happened. This has got to be...since bioshock one of the best story oriented games ever. The ending was awesome with the whole leave it up to you feeling....i think that he was dreaming all of it when Alice was heard saying "Alan, Wake up"

Some questions tho:

1. So was Alan Wake a character created from one of Thomas Zane's stories? I got the impression that he was Thomas Zane reincarnated or something because they kept edging towards that in the game.

2. I tried to get as much of the manuscript pages as possible but missed a few. Did any of those pages give more back story into Agent Nightingale....more specifically his motive as to why he wanted Wake? I got some pages about him(mostly him wanting Wake dead and him being a drunk) but nothing as to why he wanted him dead.

You should have done this post in the Ending Theories thread. ;)

1. As H4rri3r said, check out the Ending Theories thread there are so many, some with the idea you mentioned I've lost count. :p
2. Well I've collected nearly all of them except for 6 and none of them really explain him in-depth, and because of the locations of them in the Manuscript list in-game I doubt that they'd answer that question. Maybe the DLC or sequel will?

The Alan Wake Files gives a lot more info on Nightingale, although the big questions remain a mystery.
