I was just snooping around articles on N4G and I found that Alan Wake received a price drop.. That seems pretty fast. A price drop of $10.

Check it out:

No regrets either for buying it full priced, and this unfortunately isn't too surprising, especially since games this year are doing it quickly. So many quality titles are releasing this year, more so than in years, that titles not at the front of the pack prices are getting cut extremely fast. A few I can name off the top of my head includes Lost Planet 2, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, Bayonetta, and many others. I'm with many others really hoping that sales won't hold the series back from producing a sequel, as others are thinking including myself Alan Wake could very easily pull off an Uncharted 2 situation, he first game was a lot of fun but showed a lot of promise for the future then the sequel really accomplished the works, Alan Wake was a great game and I love it but I can see areas they could approve and do for a sequel but believe Remedy have the ability to pull through and make the amazing second game that could really push the series into the recognized AAA range.

It's only in SE, not in LCE. ~_~

Are the kind of people who want the LCE really the same kind of people that are waiting for a $10 price drop though?

It'd be more greater news if they price dropped the LCE...

A AAA game is a really high quality game. Isn't?

A game that sells well and is reviewed well as well as a title that can be a system seller is what an AAA game is.

Mine was $49.99 on the day it released from Amazon.

Correct. However, some assume since it averaged in the 80s, that people shouldn't call in "AAA". Though for me, Alan Wake is far more "AAA" than a Call of Duty or something along those lines.

Yeah. You know, if Alan Wake isn't a AAA, what game is? Really?

The best point of comparison I've ever read was this marketing guy calling 'AAA' titles the video game equivalent of Hollywood blockbusters. Generally, very hyped, very big in scope... Titanic, Pear Harbor, all the Terminator movies (including 3 and Salvation), those kinds of things.

So, in my mind, 'AAA' doesn't necessarily mean good.

Such thinking just shows how ignorant a lot of people are. "AAA" has NOTHING to do with review scores OR sales. It's simply a designation given for any game with a huge overhead (budget and marketing costs) and the (assumed) quality and developer investment needed to justify that overhead. It just so happens that MOST AAA titles go on to sell and review rather well....but there's no real correlation there. Unfortunately for Alan Wake, the AAA status did not lend to great sales.....yet. But there's no doubt it's AAA.....unless you're an ignorant fanboy. ;)

The only people thinking its AAA is ignorant fanboys  I was right when I said it wasn't gonna be AAA and its not. Average scores, average sales, has a ton of problems. The only people loving this game are the people on this forum (other people as well but not this much). Accept you were wrong and its not AAA. This is why I love California where Realist's reside.

That's why your state is in the biggest mess financially speaking, eh?

Maybe your state needs to get real for once and tighten its belt. The progressives and neocons have run that state into the ground. And, of course, irresponsible citizens.

Alan Wake is AAA. Your state, however, is far below that.

So the fact that I think Alan Wake is a AAA game makes me an ignorant fanboy even though I own both 360 and PS3? Along with the fact that I like my PS3 much more than my 360. You sir are the only one with ignorance here if you really believe that sales and review scores are what equal out to a AAA game.

To paraphrase Ross McDonald: "There's nothing wrong with California a sudden rise in the ocean level wouldn't cure."

AAA is just an arbitrary designation that journalists and consumers use to describe a game they think is God's Gift to Man. In truth, however, tt's a buzzword to describe a game with a huge budget and outrageous marketing, nothing more.

If I listened to a bunch of journalists and consumers rating games as 'AAA' to tell me which games are worth my time, I'd still be playing CoD MW2. To me, Alan Wake is good; better than most games I've played lately. Sales, reviews, and people like you aren't going to make me say otherwise.

So no, I don't think it's AAA. I think it's an 8.5 to 9.5 rating game. I think you're either intentionally setting people off by calling them ignorant fan boys, or you're just a poorly informed consumer.

Yes it has. Maybe stores in your area just aren't up to snuff on such things??? The price drop was official, and took effect last week. I work at GameStop, and actually printed out the price change stickers myself, and applied them.

Wow, dude...that's pretty bad. No offense, but it's guys like you that give the rest of the GameStop employees a bad rep. It's your JOB to keep up on things like game release dates, price drops, pre-order incentives, hot titles, etc. :(

I've been telling people for over a week now about the AW price drop, and have personally sold 5-6 copies myself because of it. I lost track of how many I sold since launch.

While this is true you can't expect them to keep track of every game out there and it's current price, that's an unreasonable demand.
