Just joined this forum today so thought i would say hi. Alan Wake seems like its going to be an awesome game. I loved both Max Payne games so im hoping i'll love this one too, and so far from what i seen it looks like i will.
I'll probably be getting this game on the PlayStation 3 to get the full graphical attributes of it, since PS3 is looking to be one hell of a system. :)

The official site says that AW is coming for next generation consoles and pc. So I'm pretty sure it will be released for PS3

I think I'll agree with you on this one as far as the ps3 goes. For the most part, I've always favored sony in the past. I promised myself that since the next gen systems are going to be more costly, that I would get the most powerful of the two, and I assumed the xbox 360 would be more powerful since the current xbox is more powerful than the sony ps2. But as of now, the facts and statistics show that the ps3 is the superior one. So I will be patient and wait for the ps3 to be released so I will get the best graphics attributes and everything else out of this game and all my other games.
Be most welcome at the AW forums!

I was actually thinking of buying a new computer soon but then i realised something which made me reconsider. Alan Wake and other ''next generation" games wont be coming out for a while, and when they do come out they will require a ''next generation" machine to run it. So even if i bought a really powerful computer soon it wouldnt be as powerful in the ''next generation"
Buying a top of the line system in the future for these games would make it quite costly, which is dissapointing because in a few years you will have to get a new system or an upgrade yet again. Thats why i think PS3 is a better alternate choice for the future games.
Thats why i will most likely wait for the PlayStation 3 which will be configured for optimal performance for "next generation" games. And i wont have to spend over $1,000 to get this machine, as the price on it will be around 500. And its safe to say that the system will provide this optimal graphic performance for a good 5 years i would say.
No, i am not a sales-person for Sony, just a guy figuring out a way how to get optimal performance/graphics out of future games and get that with an optimal price :)

Are the costs of the PS3 released?
With the specs I've heard I can't imagine it being any lower than a thousand USD..

Consoles are able to lower their prices because they rely on funding from game sales to record a profit. That is why high powered consoles are often cheaper than the hardware they use.

You know Valhalla I'm in the same situation as you.. except I will most likely spend around $3000 Aus on parts and build the PC myself next year.. I'll try get the best of everything.
But yes for those who need to upgrade I'd wait until next year when the next generation graphics cards come out.
The reason I'm going with a PC over a console is because well I enjoy FPS' more and the PC is 1000x better at that sort of thing then a console. Plus modding ;)

PS3 will be around 500$ max, but I've hear that Sony aims to same price as the previous PlayStations, which would be around 360$.

"Report says Sony will price the PS3 under 40,000 yen, raising speculation that it might launch at the same price as its previous two consoles.
Last week, the Mainichi Daily News quoted Sony Computer Entertainment officials as saying the PlayStation 3 would be priced at under 50,000 yen ($465.58). Now it appears that the console may be even cheaper when it goes on sale next year."

Nothing is sure but death (and hangover), a PS3 version would not be a huge suprise though.

I think there is a pretty good chance that it will come out for sony. alanwake.com would have just said coming out for xbox 360 and pc if it wasn't coming out for the ps3. But all it says is pc and next generation consoles.

It's a tactical error releasing AW only for xhoax 360 (consolewise), because ps3 are goint to own xbox :p But then again, "shoot'em up" games are usualy best on computers anyways.
just my humble opinion on this matter :P
