Fantastic song!!!!!!! Has anyone listened/looked at the lyrics to "Balance Slays the Demon?" They are interesting.... Clues? Maybe.

Haha, those Old Gods of Asgard sure like writing songs that Alan is meant to hear

I did my best to transcribe what i heard, but nothing is set in stone. Not all parts of the song were easy to understand and are left blank. Corrections can also be made.

If you haven't heard the song in the game yet, this would be a good time to leave the thread. Seriously, i don't want to spoil the moment you first hear the song.

Bought the song on iTunes when I saw it was available.

No idea what it means but I hope it means something.

Wait........Is that a hint that there might be another Alan Wake game? Is the song warning that the darkness will strike again, meaning that the next location will be in a town called Ordinary?

The game credits also say "Alan continues his journey into the night" or something like that.

So somebody made a forum post about this, and I've done a bit of Audacitying, reversed it, amped it, even changed the tempo, and this is what I believe it said:

"It will happen again, in another town (the town) called "Ordinary""

If you guys want to try and back up what I believe I heard, then please do.

It could be a hint really. Next game perhaps?

That is a excellent point. I think it is definitely possible. Though when they say it will happen AGAIN it makes me believe a whole scenario with the Dark Presence and it hitting the fan in some little town much like the first game is what it is referring too. After all this American nightmare took place in a town that didn't really exist it just overtook a real town. It would be cool if Alan got out of the dark place in part 2 and woke up seeing the sign just outside town that said "Welcome to ordinary, the most normal place on earth" and then he realizes nothing is ordinary there much like bright falls. Possibly due to Agent Nightengale.

You're all forgetting that "Night Springs" isnt a town at all. It's not even place. The premise of night springs is that it's called Night Springs wherever the action is when an episode shows on television.

At least thats what a manuscript said.

It's in Arizona because whatever the town that has become Night Springs is really called is located near one of the thin, worn places in the world -- where dreams and reality flow together and life is always a little strange. In the lyrics they just keep repeating that the balance is needed to defeat the monster or something, I just thought this meant how everything needs to be balanced in what Alan writes? You know how he always says how it needs to make sense, can't be ridiculous, has to stick to the rules or he can't defeat the darkness?..

Also, in the one the manuscripts, Alan talks about the dark presence and how it 'drives most people mad, but he can handle it.'

For me Ordinary sounds wierd name for a town. Though I found some towns with that name with google maps. Yeah, I hadn't anything better to do:p.

I found one particular lyric interesting.

"In the end, it's never just the light you need."

This could reference many things. Future past or even present. It could be that he'll never make it out, never having the "light that he needs" or it could be that his flashlight wouldn't have been enough to kill Scratch and needed the projector. Or that he needed the clicker to defeat Jagger and not just a flashlight.

Also, the one post mentioning that the Night Springs town could be called Ordinary could make sense. Odin and Tor have also been touched by darkness, their music effecting the world. This doesn't mean Alan didn't write things happening, but it could had been the song they wrote also influencing it.

What a lot of people have forgot to mention is how crucial Tor and Odin are to the story. If anyone remembers the manuscript page titled "the Old Gods of Asgard" from, I believe the 3rd reality, during the rest-stop location.

"But there's something in them, something powerful that took hold when they were touched by the powers beyond, a thing that goes far beyond their stage names. Something godlike."

Their songs hold a lot more weight then what most of us think. Also since Barry is now their agent as well, then it may open a lot more interaction between Alan and the brothers in the coming games. These two may actually old the keys to Alan's future in their hands. If anyone has any thoughts or changes please feel free to reply. I want to know more! I want to know what others are thinking.

Yes, but he is their agent only in this particular dream. It is an extension of a whimsical fantasy stated once by Barry in the original game, about wanting to sign them.

But the shot at the start is not the dream and it shows his badge to say he works with the band. Infact the stuff with Alan might not be a dream just because Barry wakes up after the credits.

Alan stated in AW that everything has a price, everything needs to be balanced. And to uphold this particular balance, you need light AND darkness.

Even the Night Springs narrator mentioned that the struggle between light and darkness is eternal. Anywho, i think that the darkness will never be fully defeated.

Maybe Alan will finally close the door, and will leave the story open for another writer/poet/musician etc.

This song is a pretty good song. So while listening to it on youtube I found a video where somebody found a hidden message. The message goes like this,

"It will happen again, in another town. A town....called Ordinary."

And it is clearly said forward. None of that thinking it was just backwards gibberish.

There's a lot to be said there. Old God's mentions Zane's dream-poem (Which is really odd, since they're not in Bright Falls anymore), and also talk about Scratch...

Going off a Manuscript, Alan says that they're more than just touched by the light. In fact, he mentioned in passing that they seemed to have a "god-like" twinge. Perhaps Tor and Odin are really Tor and Odin?
