That's really odd. Try adding -gpucount=1 command line.
Also please tell your hardware config so we can investigate tomorrow.

i can use fraps to catch the situation. the game became so slow, even the intro videos, like remedy(60fps-but before update was 200 and more) the menu like episodes etc. its very slow too, unplayable. during gameplay, if i turn mouse, you will see only the 2 frames before and after turning so slow it is.

i used to play with 1080p low with glorious 24 fps min.

i have a phenom x4 830 and a 6670 1gb ddr5, and 4gb ram.

same here ,even i set all graphics options low
i try adding -gpucount=1 command line,but did't work....
i have a PhenomII X3 720, 4850 512MB ,8G DDR3
and i try some different Graphics driver,like 11.9 12.1, 12.3,but all the same...and i found something interesting,when i uninstalled the graphics driver,use the default driver which The win7 comes with,the game works fine! that's really make me confused...
i hope this helps...and fix it ASAP plz

Ok, we tried a Phenom X3 / 4870 (don't have the exact configs you do) and it does work. Can you try running Steam in offline mode?

i think i fixed it. it's Process conflict,a processes named Catalyst Control Centel,as we know ccc.exe

this is how i fix it
open system configuration--startup--find Catalyst Control Centel and disable it,reboot

or you can open task manager,find ccc.exe,end it .works too.but if you don't disable in system config,everytime you reboot ,you need do it again

hope this helps

codeneo good if it worked for you but that can't be a final solution for everyone - and ccc in most cases doesn't cause any problems. We're continuing to investigate.

i got nothing, removed everything from ati, cleaned reg, uninstalled in windows and catayst suit, rebooted, updated, now closed ccc.exe, but nothing. ill reinstall the game so?

just installed game now, i removed and installed again DOES NOT WORK.

there must be an oddly reason to a game wont run even the intro videos and menu, going to 2fps!

Could it be that your card is (some how) not kicking the 3D clocks?
Do this.

Open Vision Engine Control Center (Right click on the Desktop and click the first option)
Go to the "Performance" tab and Click "AMD Overdrive" (Accept the license if needed)
Leave it open..

Now, add this command line to Alan Wake on Steam "-window" so it starts windowed (No " ")
Go back to the Control center and check that the clocks change from whatever the minimum are to full clock (800 GPU Clock - 1000 Memory Clock). If they not change, then, there is a problem with the video drivers.

Can you post your dxdiag info here? E.g., run dxdiag.exe from Windows' Run... prompt and then save the results as text.

heres my dxdiag attached as notepad.
its weird the pc still poiting i have a 5450, but i have a 6670
there is no overdrive on vision engine center, i read once this is due to my nvidia chipset, nforce.
i just wiped all drivers and then installed again, but i can do that if you suggest,as well as remove then installed he game.
TY for atention!

I doubt it. I have build tons (and when I mean tons are like 100 or even more over 15 years) of PC with AMD CPU on boards with nforce chipsets with ATI/AMD cards and Overdrive is always there.
Make sure you are using the Advanced view on the Center. (Top right hand > Preferences> Advanced View)

its really cohesive what youre talking heres what can i see in advanced already:

pinned
presets
desktop management
common display tasks
my digital flat panels
video
gaming
performance>CPU Power only
power>cpu power only
information

thats all dude.
anyway, i guess i have a problem with the game itself, something in the 1.04 made a conflict that the vga cant render the game.

why my dxdiag is so outdated? i have a 6670 but it shows 5450.

thanks.

since its oem, maybe the pc bios lock the vga"s clock in the amd software , but its unlockable with msi afterburner. the cpu clock is locked too.

Now that I remember, the Override tab being missed is a bug when the drivers are getting incorrectly installed.

Reinstall again cleaning with DriverSweeper.

Uninstall with the AMD Uninstaller.
Reboot.
Clean with DriverSweeper (http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html). (Even though, I suggest ATIMAN Cleaner (http://www.mediafire.com/?sja6d1z3t2ld6as) better, as it's WAY more comprehensive and Safe)
Reboot.
Install drivers again.

And the bad detection by DXdiag should be the drivers too.

excelent. there some things during this process;
the video output become onboard, but still hdmi;
if you reboot, windows will install it auto;
i will clean registry;
i will do this now, if you want to be here, i will contact you soon.

im pretty sure not only gaming will be correct, but this will eliminate some terrible screen tearing i saw on my dvds...

from now on, i will every time uninstall all ati crap, driver sweeper, and install.
the main dificult i had was the windows installing the vga like plugn play, so, that made 2 video outputs, one from onboard vga, and one from hdmi. anyway, i guess, one uninstallation from ati software, one registry clean, and one driver sweeper is enough.

thanks again.
