I know it is too early to ask, but I'll give it a try:
Can we get the approximate date when the demo for "Alan Wake" will be released (if it will be, of course)?

And the next question: will there be something like closed beta?

Thanks for your answers in advance!

First off noone, not even Remedy, knows when the demo is going to be released.. it could be after the game's released or before. Like you said (and know), it's too early to ask.

As for the closed beta thing.. all beta testing is done internally. So, sorry.

I have another question...
Can we expect any more info at all this year? I dont talking about a demo, but maybe some new screenshots, video or tech info, whatever.

Maybe its to early to ask this also. I dont need to know what it is, just when.

There has been no discussion about a demo. Remedy may not even release a demo of the game, seeing as its an open world style of play.

Testing of the game will almost certainly be done in-house or with Microsoft Game Studios so the likelihood of any form of public beta is nil.

Remedy haven't informed us of any future publicity. Last year they went in to crunch mode, and didn't release anything until recently, but they haven't said anything regarding future media blackouts. For now, just keep your eyes open for any magazine cover stories like the German PC Action, which includes a few new screenshots that could possibly be released in the future.

There was something planned to be released a couple of weeks ago but it must have been pushed back, but I'd say quite confidently that theres more to come this year.

So yes.

Im not sure how you could get a good enough demo out for a game like this??

Unless it was like the Saints row demo where you had access to a small portion of the game world with 2 or 3 missions

Of course Remedy know when they can\cannot relase a demo - they know exactly where their product is in terms of road map\relase date..

They will have a project plan with key milestones as to where they are against where they want to be..

Once can only assume they have had major set backs, if they have not relased a demo or committed to a release date.. Its as simple as that..

Another factor out of their control is staffing - for example they could have a key programmer that decides to leave, each programmer will have his or her own deadlines. If Remedy suffer this (as did microsoft a while back) then it would throw the project into jepordy..

As any game company would do, though in almost all cases, this plan is not revealed to the public.

Not at all. These days, you'll find a lot of demos only appear after the game's release or a couple of weeks before release. Even then, Remedy have given no indications of a demo and seeing as the nature of the game is an open-ended gameworld, I would reasonable expect that there will not be a demo at all. Secondly, there are no rules stating that they have to give a release date. Judging from Remedy's past titles, the emphasis is on quality, not pushing the game out the door to meet a deadline.

Happens with every company, but Remedy is a small close-knit developer, not a massive corporate machine like Microsoft. In the time I have followed Alan Wake's development, I have only seeing advertisements for about 3 positions in Remedy's ranks.

I agree with your first point, but the second is pure speculation (at least until they actually do announce a release date). All you can accurately conclude at this stage is that 'the game isn't ready yet'. There may well be delays, set backs, staff leaving, bugs, and so on -- but unless they choose to disclose this information, we may never know about it. :)

As for a demo, frankly speaking, I don't think we'll see anything until around or near the release date -- at which point I expect we'll know a *lot* more about the game than we do now.

In the meantime, lets keep all release date discussions in this thread for now:
