Hi Everyone! So I got AWAN off steam and for some reason the game crashes about 2 second upon startup at the remedy screen. I followed the support thread (such as deleting the xml file, using -w1280 -h720 -window and -nosound parameter) and nothing has worked so far.

Specs

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Monitor
Windows 7 64bit
Intel i5 2500
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti (updated drivers)
Dual Monitors

It also seems like I have the same issue with the original alan wake for pc

We today found one PC at our office that crashes at a similar location, and have been debugging that for the whole day. If we manage to find a fix (I am somewhat hopeful) we could have a patch out Thursday morning US time. But I can't promise that yet - just that we'll try our best.

It seems to have something to do with losing focus during startup, so theoretically, temporarily disabling some extra programs on your PC that can cause this MAY fix the situation. But this is just a theory if you are desperate to play today and willing to experiment.

The funny thing is that the original Alan Wake doesn't crash on the same PC -- but likely the problem is the same, the timings just work differently.

Hi! Thank you for the fast response. I played the original Alan Wake on Xbox and really enjoyed it. Now I have a PC for gaming so I thought I'd get both games. I'm excited to play American Nightmare but I'll be patient for the fix. Thanks for your help!

So I saw that an update was put out. Both my Alan Wake and AWAN still crash at the same place. Hopefully this can get resolved somehow. Is there something I could be missing?

DeanOSupremo32 - we fixed one really clear crash possibility, but apparently then it wasn't the one you had. Any crash dumps in your documents\remedy\americannightmare or alanwake folders? Those could help us chase this down...

This is what I found in the folder. I hope this helps

DeanOSupremo32 - In the Steam forums, another user had a similar issue, and closing XFire fixed the issue for him. Would you by accident have XFire?

I don't have x-fire. Could there be something else based on the error message I posted?
