    Re: ALAN WAKE engine question

Please see the FAQ for these types of questions answered:
    http://www.brightfalls.net/alan-wake-faq/

But to answer your question quickly the engine is simply called "The Alan Wake engine".

    From the FAQ:
What engine is Alan Wake using? #

It’s an in-house engine developed by Remedy, known as the Alan Wake Engine and incorporates the Havok physics component. The game is being designed with five threads: rendering, audio, streaming, physics and terrain tessellation. One core processor can be dedicated to physical calculations.

        Re: ALAN WAKE engine question

Havok 4.0 is a physics engine, powering only the physics in the game (ie. the way things collide with each other, how things move when they are dropped, thrown through the air, etc). It isn't a Remedy product, but is developed by Havok Inc.

4.0 is the latest version, but if the API has been significantly revised then don't expect it to appear in Alan Wake, which is already quite far into development as far as I know.
