  • Steam’s registry indicates that Alan Wake is coming to the PC

This is huge, this is really huge. According to Steam’s registry, Alan Wake is coming to the PC. Although we don’t have any specific release date, we do know that those registry entries are as valid as they can get. We’ve also captured a screen from this registry entry that can be viewed bellow. In case you were unaware of, Sonic Generations’ PC version was leaked in the same way, so there should be no doubt about the validity of the source. Steam’s registry does not lie, that’s a fact. Bottom line is that Alan Wake is coming to the PC, it’s semi-official now.

Let’s also not forget Remedy’s Aki Järvilehto statement:

“We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that. Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!”
This can be easily translated as “We are developing it and will let you know about its release date”. The key word here is dating. Aki could easily had stated that they might have some good news about the development of a potential PC version. But no, Aki intentionally used the word ‘dating’ which hints to a future release of Alan Wake to the PC.

    Rejoice PC gamers, it’s coming!

        upleasepleasepleasepleaseplease ;P

I'd love to go through the game once again, getting 100% all over again. Had such a fun time doing that.

But not doubt if this is true, Remedy will be disappointed that YET AGAIN something so secret is leaked so early.

I always feel for Remedy when that happens

Hm.... we've had too many times that something weird like this has popped up over the course of the last 3 years that I'm over getting re-hyped but I still want it to be true because I will pre-order it the second it becomes available because it will be just as awesome as it was to play through on the 360, if not more so.

If it is true MS is stupid to publish Alan Wake of steam instead of GFWL.
Or maybe like Fable 3 will be sold on Steam, but GFWL will be necessary.

How so? Nobody on PC that I know of prefers GfWL over Steam anyday.

Steam only and no other crappy DRM would be amazing if they did it, but I can't think of any MS releases that haven't forced GfWL on you so my presumption would be that they would and I can already predict the minute the game did go up on sale that there would be a 2000+ post topic of people bitching about the GfWL requirement.

Greetings from Ukraine!) Good news. I hope for the Steam release.
And for Remedy - if there going to be a Steam release, please release your Alan Wake Editor for Modmakers. I used to chat on one russian forum about Max Payne and there is still some people who truly loves Max Payne games and they still creating modifications for it. And there is a lot of MP Modmakers round the world. I remember your advertisement video about this editor and about creating Alan Wake game and it looks very awesome. So please, do a favor for your fans. Thanks and sorry for my bad english)

Yes but the publisher is MS so it seems strange that does not require GFWL

They could hire the now defunct STALKER devs to do the port

If they are going to make a PC version, I hope they'll make a Mac version too.

Where was that statement given? It reminds me of Järvilehto's comment given in Finnish at Ylex but the translation is little off.

EDIT. Yep, just as I expected. That's Google Translation from Järvilehto's comment at YleX and the translation isn't that great. More proper one would go:

                            - We have received a lot of feedback from PC gamers and we have to admit that we are tempted to take that into account. We'll see if, in the near future, we might have some positive news to say about this as well.

"Dating" isn't mentioned at all. I don't know where Google Translator got that from.
