  • Remedy co-founder leaves for Rovio

Angry Birds developer Rovio’s announced it has hired Remedy co-founder Petri Järvilehto.

Järvilehto leaves the Alan Wake and Max Payne developer to become Rovio’s newly-made senior vice president of console development.

Angry Birds was released as a mini title on PSN for PS3 and PSP back in January with XBLA and Wii versions also planned. It was recently confirmed that a 3DS version was on its way.

Remedy, meanwhile, is bringing its first-ever title, Death Rally, to iOS and iPad in March. Alan Wake 2 is also though to be in development.

If I remember reading right from other site, Petri will be handling the developement of the future Angry Birds releases, while still having a position at Remedy.

This popped up in our Gaming News thread.

Petri has been on the board of the company and continues on this role offering higher level guidance and strategic leadership. He has been in this role since around spring 2008. So, everything continues as before on that front. We are friends and in touch every week - and I get to kick his butt on the squash court

He has a lot to offer and I know he is excited about taking Angry Birds even further.
