Development is on temp. hold, as I've just started a new job, and moved to London. Thing will pick up again once I get a flat and move my PC down from Scotland.

Finally got it on my laptop. Haven't check it yet, but hopefully everything still works...

EDIT:

Now trying to figure out what the problem with the sound is.

I don't think it's adpcm, as I've replaced the acm file for that in system32 and swow64; also sound effects are playing and they use adpcm as well.

Afaik, it's only affecting 2d sound with 2 channels (stereo) - in other words music, Max's monologues, and similar.

Use the soundpatch I made... It will fix it, by converting every .wav to pcm 8b unsigned ... It's rough, but it does fix it...

It's a bit disappointing that Valve/Take2 re-released this on Steam without testing or patching it.

I realise that the end product is more than dated, but I'm not one for chasing technology - for me it's about gameplay and seeing projects through to completion. Personally I believe that Max Payne is one of those games that people return to over time -- it's a superb story-driven action game. If only a few people get bit more enjoyment out of the game then it was worth it. If not, ah well - I had fun making it.

How big is the file and what exactly does it contain?

You said earlier that it is "first part of the mod" ,so does this only contain the levels of first movie ?
