Death Rally now available globally on Android!
![]() Remedy Entertainment is proud to announce that Death Rally for Android is now available worldwide on Google Play! In celebration of the launch, Remedy is giving away the game for $0.00. That’s right, free! The Android version’s free to play model will be supported by an in-app purchase system that can be used to purchase more tracks, cars and guns. Additional parts can be gained for free by performing TapJoy sponsored actions. Of course, gameplay is and will always be completely free to play. Death Rally is an intense, action packed, top-down racing game with addictive gameplay and guns. Lots of guns. Make a run for the finish line with a trail of burnt rubber and spent shells behind you… along with the flaming wreckage of any opponent dumb enough to get in your way. Death Rally for Android requires an Android device with: - * * * Multi-touch display - * * * OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration with the performance of Adreno205, Mali400, SGX540, Tegra2 or better - * * * ARM v7 compatible CPU - * * * Android operating system version 2.2 or later. Tested Devices: Asus EEE Transformer, HTC Desire HD, LG G2X, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid 3, Motorola Photon, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung Infuse, Samsung Nexus S, Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc, Sony-Ericsson Xperia Play For more Death Rally information, follow us on Facebook and Twitter: www.facebook.com/deathrally and www.twitter.com/remedygames Download Death Rally for your Android device direct from Google Play I'm on the Twitters! @sidetwo |

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Ugh, the app is 50mb, when I try to download it says "insufficient space" I've got 2 gigs on my SD card but only like 35 megs on my phone memory. Is there any way to download to SD card?

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Darn, doesn´t seem to be working on my LG P-500. Doesn´t start at all when I click the icon. Not really suprising with this shitty device, but I was getting all hopeful when the store told me it was compatible.

H4wkeye:
Some Android devices may require not only that 50mb of free mem but twice that when you install a 50mb app. Once it's installed you can copy it to your SD card using the device settings and application control. |

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
I downloaded this app a week ago and it played great, but ever since I updated it, it just goes to a black screen indefinitely. I have tried several times to reinstall the app, but the same situation happens. I'm using a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Why can't the game files be unpacked to the SD Card? Requiring someone to have 100+ mb free on internal storage is ridiculous and would require me to uninstall every thing on my internal storage which isn't possible.
Also, why does the game take up 50 mb on my internal storage when it's installed on the SD Card? I had 128 mb free on my internal storage, installed the game, it went down to 70 mb before even starting the game to unpack the files. |

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
I like the game, but using 110MB even after being moved to SD is simply greedy.
I wish the game did as Gameloft games do, and download the assets directly to the SD card on first startup. [s]EDIT: as I've previously rooted my handset, I copied /data/data/com.remedy.DeathRallyFREE/app_dr_data/ to /sdcard/Android/data/com.remedy.DeathRallyFree, deleted /data/data/com.remedy.DeathRallyFREE/app_dr_data/ and made a symlink in its place to the sdcard copy. Seems to work, for now. Not sure how it'll handle upgrades of the app, though.[s] I wouldn't recommend doing as I describe above; when I upgraded to today's upgrade of DR, my handset spontaneously rebooted. It might be unrelated, but I wouldn't want anyone to risk filesystem damage from following the instructions above. Probably just best to wait until a new version is released that downloads the assets directly to the SD card.

Reason: move data to SD for rooted devices

I just get "not compatible with this device". Bummer... Edit: But on my ancient androidified HTC HD2 it worked without a hitch. The Sensation unit is updated with the official ICS from HTC. The HD2 is very very unofficial Gingerbread from xda. Is there a problem with ICS and Death Rally?

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
At the moment multiplayer plans are open and unlikely - it's not impossible but Android doesn't offer match-making like Game Center on iOS, and we haven't found a good 3rd party solution.

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Pointing at the same question (multiplayer) maybe you can take a look at "Gun Bros" "DrawSomething" or "Dungeon Defenders Second Wave", both are NOT Remedy games, but feature not only multiplayer, but cross-plattform gaming as well.
and btw: is there a pc/ps3/xbox release coming? dont tell me "no", please! i still play the original 96er version on my dos laptop. please re-do it.

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Hey Cowbutt was just wondering on what phone you created the symlink? I was trying to get it to work on my Xperia Play but it wasn't having it. I have root access and all but even after I create the link I cant change directories through it.

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
mortuus: HTC Desire is NOT supported
agdewey: HTC Desire S has been successfully tested, but only when the Android OS has been updated to 2.2 or above. The original v2.1 it ships with is not enough. I therefore removed Desire S from the list of tested devices on the product page. |

Thanks for the reply Patric. My Desire S came with Android 2.3.3 installed, which was recently upgraded to 2.3.5, but I can't get the game to install. Is there a way to install it independent of the Android Play Store?

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
I'm downloading it now on my rather low-end Samsung Gio
http://catalogue.proximus.be/PUB/gsm...adw_cbu_P_F2_8 Curious if it'll work. Edit: Apparantly it doesn't Meh... black screen and shuts off (though I can download it without notice from google play) Let's hope to win the IPAD so we can play afterall eh ^^

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Games much better on my Samsung galaxy S3 than on the I phone 4 I replaced it with, due to the screen size.
One irritation is the fact that I couldn't sign in and continue my game from the image phone. Also no multilayer |

Draecoeh: Nice to hear that you like Death Rally on Android. I use an Android phone myself these days and it works really nicely. It's true that multiplayer is not included on Android, but then again, it's free

Sorry Wiger, you must first install Death Rally for Android, and only then can it be transferred to SD card. And 50mb will not do, as you need to have the installation package and the unpacked installed game in memory at once. This measures up to 165mb as written on the product page in Google Play. You should also check the other phone requirements and tested devices + listed devices that are NOT supported. Usually devices that are supported from a feature perspective also have the needed memory and vice versa. Devices with just 100-200mb of memory are usually not up to running Death Rally anyway. |

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Hello,
how can I close Death Rally on my Nexus S handset (running JB 4.1.2)? When I press the Nexus S' back button: Nothing happens. When I press the home button, it moves in the backgroud keeping the device active. Thanks, CommanderBond |

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
Mr Bond: We have a Nexus S here for testing and exit works on both back button and home key. It is possible that the operating system keeps the game in the background until it discards it during maintenance or you remove it manually, but this is how Android works. Death Rally for Android fulfills all Android requirements about non-existent memory and resource usage while running in the background.

Re: Death Rally now available globally on Android!
missd: You need to be connected to a network and you need to be registered/signed in to Google Play. Then in-apps should work.
Thanks for asking and sorry for the delay answering. |
