Alan Wake DLC "The Signal" releasing July 27th.

Will only pre-orders have the future DLC token? Or all new games?

Well if that's the case then this DLC might just be the best DLC ever delivered for a single player game, and I seriously hope it is true being that even the first episode gave me 3 hours of playtime.

I think weekend confirmed mentioend the dlc would be prequels or side episodes, my thoughts were it would carry on from the end of the game.

Any confirmation?

It took them too long to create it though, most people had moved on my then

The DLC was better than the actual GTA4 though in my opinion!

In all honesty each of the GTA4 DLC's were a full game in themselves..

Yeah but the price was also huge, Ballad was more an expansion for me, as was Lost and the Damned of course, they were like full games compared to many off the shelf games, I'm not expecting that from Alan Wake, but an extra episode now and again would go down a treat.

As long as it's nothing like the 10 minutes I got for the Heavy Rain DLC, now that's just wrong.

Agreed, when I did download them I hadn't played the game for ages so getting back into it and trying to get the feel was a chore if I'm honest, I just literally couldn't get into Lost and the Damned it had been that long since I played GTA 4.

To keep interest the DLC needs to come thick and fast after a games release, just my opinion of course.

I really don't know anything about that. We just make the game; it's up to Microsoft to determine details like this. They sell our game in a lot of countries, but we don't personally determine how that happens in each particular country. We don't sit down at our office and think about the DLC tokens for Hungary. Seriously, we don't even have the expertise for that.

June 1 is not the correct date. The PartnerNet stuff that has been leaked is not up to date.

Also, I can only reiterate that the DLC is not the ending to the game. The ending to Alan Wake is in Alan Wake. Like I said: if a black hole swallowed Remedy's offices tomorrow, with everybody inside, and there was no more Alan Wake coming out in any form, ever, the end in Alan Wake would work just fine. I'm not saying it answers every question, because -- and I'm stating the obvious here -- we do not operate in a genre where every question gets answered. But we have a very definite and intentional story arc there.

I hope that is true because if it's not you're going to be relentlessly criticised. Things like what happened with the last Prince of Persia where you had to pay for dlc to see the ending are a real shame. I wouldn't like something like that for AW even though I know I am happily going to pay for every DLC that comes out for the game but I'd hate some cheap cash-in of that type.

Well, I'm sure that no matter what we put out, somebody's going to decide that it must be the real ending and it was cut from the game. At the risk of sounding snotty, all I can say is that if you play the game and seriously don't understand why that is the definite ending for that story, what the story arc you've just seen is, I don't know what if there's anything I can do for you...

Anyway, all I can say is what I've said a lot of times: what we're doing with the DLC is a separate thing, it's a little story of its own. You could skip that entirely and go right to Alan Wake 2, if we get to make it, and you'd be just fine. I'm not saying you wouldn't miss out on anything (because obviously we're not going to make something that meaningless). You would definitely miss out on a part of the whole Alan Wake experience. But it's not a huge plot twist that we've been saving just for the DLC. We didn't even start working on this thing until Alan Wake was finished. The DLC is something that people who really enjoy Alan Wake will probably appreciate, because it'll answer some questions and give them more stuff to play.

I have absolutely no doubt that nothing I say will convince some people that we aren't "selling them the ending" or whatever. What can I say?

I never downloaded DLC before so I have a question:
I understand that everyone will get the first DLC for free but will it also be available for Live SILVER-members on day 1 of release?

Because I´ve seen that some DLC´s (and Demos) are exclusive to Gold-members the first week after release.
I quitted my gold-membership today because my multiplayer-time with Splinter Cell Conviction is over. And I don´t want to upgrade to gold again just because I want the Alan Wake DLC on day 1...(i WILL of course, if thats the way!^^)

Probably? It's happening like a damned plague on gamefaqs. lol Poor people that for some reason go there for information are getting lied to and tricked into thinking the DLC will be like 13 different episodes that cost 800 points each and the DLC is the actual ending of the game you are forced to buy.

It's ridiculous. I even posted what Mikki said and they are like "Well they lied about everything else, so that's a lie too." The amount of trolls and morons over there is freaking ridiculous. ::facepalm::

I just wish there was a way to get the DLC without XBL. The 360 I have was banned when I bought it, so no DLC for me

but hopefully some kind of extra DLC disc will come out eventually, like the Fallout 3 GOTY expansions one. that worked great for my situation, even though everybody else had already played the DLC way before I had the chance

You bought your Xbox 360 and it was already banned? Phone Microsoft and tell them the situation, they should be able to tell your not that person through your IP address associated with your serial number atm. Seems a bit crap.
