Too bad death rally is such excellent game it almost cant be improved.jk
Maybe if you put more tracks. And make game's quality be like 720p.( i know this game can run at big rezolutions but, the quality is old )

Death Rally is image based, so increasing the resolution to 720p won't really increase the detail. If you wanted more detail then the actual images would have to be redrawn.

Re: Death Rally for Windows released

Thanks all, glad to see you enjoying it as much as we did! This port was really a hobby project for us, and it's fun to see people like the results so much.

Hamish: it's not only the visible art to be redrawn, but the AI is "image based" too if I recall correctly (meaning the most popular routes on the track are weighted by colors on the image).

Thanks for the release. I've been playing Death Rally for many years, brings back memories. I was really surprised when I received an email from Remedy after sending you an email 2 years ago

Thank your for the re-release. The DOS version was very hard to get running (for me ).

              Guys, you rock

people will be able to mod game like Uplink
i'm sure a lot of people would buy source code
                your choice
and Thanks again just like (...) years ago

You guys are awesome! I always love it when developers show love for their old games.

A question though: Now that you've released this (awesome) ported version of Death Rally as freeware, should the original DOS version also be considered freeware?

That question is answered in the FAQ in a bit more detail:
                    http://community.remedygames.com/showthread.php?t=2618

                    But short answer is no.

Shame on me for not having read the FAQ first!

                      Thanks for the info though.

That's interesting. Was that method used because CPUs back then weren't fast enough to do path-finding in real time or because it gave you more control over how the AI racers drove?

Hamish I'd be darned if I remember. I could ask the original programmers, but I don't think they would remember either.
