    Re: New members post here!

Sup people, name's Nosferatu, but you call call me Nos on account of the informal situation

Just one quibble Pete, sorry, ADoomedMarine () what's with the 100x50 ava size? I just resized my 64x64 ava, by the wrong bloody dimension! I'll get one up eventually

I'm livin' in Scotland, love gaming, Resi, Final Fantasy and a whole load of FPS games. Music, anything heavy, Slipknot, Muse an' KoRn getting noteable mentions.

Havn't heard much about Alan Wake yet, so that's kinda why I'm here. The screenshots are amasing, and I may acctually fork over some dough when the game is released! Max Payne was killer, hope this will be to.

Nice work on the site Pete!

Hey welcome Nos (and the rest!).

The avatars have to be less the 50 pixels in height (the one you're trying to upload is 64 ).

              Re: New members post here!

Hello to all. I'm Vilbert, from Finland, but some of you might call me an idiot, arrogant fool or such in the future
Seriously though, I'm planning on posting only well based and reasonable suggestions and opinions.

I got my first computer around 1985. It was C64. I did some text adventure torsos, but mainly played games. Afterwards I switched to Amiga. My favourite games on them were Ultima V (C64), Pool Of Radiance (C64), Curse Of The Azure Bonds (C64) and Dungeon Master (Amiga). There was a substantial gap in my gaming since I bought my first PC very late in 2001. I haven't had many great experiences with PC games so far. Operation Flashpoint has hit the spot, in spite of its AI flaws (I'm following OFP2/BIS/Codemasters scene closely). I like the Total War series too. In CRPG department I liked Daggerfall and had high hopes for Morrowind, but ended up disappointed (I post in Oblivion forum too). I have also played a few online shooters, but nowdays I'm only interested in the more realistic ones like Americas Army and WW2OL. I thought Max Payne was sweet (but short), eventhough I don't like playing with 3rd person view. 3rd person view didn't bother me alot since basically the game is "just" a well made shoot'em up game. I didn't buy Max Payne 2, because it seemed to be pretty much the same as its prequel. I haven't had a console since Atari 2600.

I'm a little disappointed that the substance in games hasn't developed along with the graphics. They are too much streamlined and simplified to my liking. I do understand that people who develop and publish games want to make as much money as possible. This means minimizing of "imagined" risks, expenses and sticking to the old and tested methods. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

I wish good luck to Remedy team, although they probably won't need it. I'm sure Alan Wake will be very succesfull.

Been playing games since the Atari and NES.

My favourite games are NOLF, Deus Ex, Max Payne and Half life.
My Favourite developers are Remedy and Monolith.

First heard about Alan Wake on Gamespot then, found the main site Alanwake.com while searching on Google for screenshots of the game. Finally, the main site lead me here to the forums.

                    Hi there,
I'm just a normal guy from Denmark who like who happens to be a big Remedy fan. I also like music, (Poets of the Fall, Coldplay, ...) and play guitar in a band myself. I'm really looking forward to Alan Wake. If i don't get it soon i'll die.
Alan Wake was a bestselling horror writer...

                        Hi Folks,
                        I'm cold-steel.
I'm from Germany and I am 17 Years old.
I played Max Payne 1 (which i think to be the best game ever) and the MP2 Demo (which was crap, imo ).
As some of you may notice, my name comes from Max Payne (the factory in the third part is called "cold steel").
I hope we'll have fun together.....

My name's Juho and i come from SW Finland. I know that if the guys do even half as good work as with Max Payne 1 must this game be seriously considered for the GotY award.

                            Re: New members post here!

                            great thread guys!

My name is Dave, from Edmonton Alberta Canada. I'm on a few forums here and there under the same user name, as well as Xbox Live. I'm 27, been gaming since I was six years old with the Vic-20, then the C64, Nes, and so on. I quit gaming for a few years, skipping over the N64/PSX era until a buddy of mine convinced me to get a PS1 with a mod chip, this was about a year before the PS2 was about to ship.

Well I got hooked again. Since that time, I've been gaming like mad. Recently in the past couple of years, I've been pigeonholing myself into playing mostly sport games/action, anything that gives you that high adrenaline/low-commitment approach where I didn't have to spend three hours wandering in a circle fighting off random monsters just so I could level up. So Tony Hawk, the 2k series of NHL hockey and Grand Theft Auto are some of the titles I enjoy playing the most.

Alan Wake is the first story-driven game in a long time that I'm very excited about. Usually I avoid survival-horror, rpg, and similar titles due to the hours of commitment needed to progress through, but AW seems to be worth the effort. Especially after I found out that it was the Max Payne guys who were developing it. They pay such attention to detail (soap operas/dream sequences/story/sound) in the MP games, that I KNOW Alan Wake is in very capable hands.

I'm particulary excited about what Remedy can do with next-gen tech. I'm very interested in the weather system, lighting, physics and the draw-distance. The storyline reminds me of a Dean Koontz novel (forgot which one, I have over 30 of his books) which to me, makes a huge difference in seperating this from say.. Silent Hill. I want the game to focus on a realistic interpretation of the supernatural and not go all out monster-fest like SH does. This grounding of reality is what gets me most and Remedy's approach of making it more like a "thriller" than a balls out action title. I also love the idea of using light to defeat your enemies, though I hope light is more of a diversionary tactic rather than a way to actually kill these things. And I'm hoping next-gen will see a crazy amount of small details like insects, tripping on branches, non-linear mission solving, clothing physics affected by wind, etc.

I found out about Alan wake one night when I was bored and looking for info on all the Xbox 360 titles. I think I read the Eurogamer interview and later found the official site, from there I came here.

                            Whew, apologies for the length

My name is Rico and I believe that most of the guys here already know me from other boards.

I'm a Max Payne 2 modder and I'm currently working on 3 different projects, one of which is pretty close to release these days.

I've released a tweak mod called Ricomod for Max Payne 2, nothing really big. I made it back in the day when it was still my 1st month modding the game as a sort of tutorial for myself. Eventually I ended up releasing it and moving on to bigger projects.

I've modded video games since I was 12 and I'm hoping the dev tools for Alan Wake will be good enough for me to achieve some of my ideas that have been impossible on the MP2 engine. I plan to move on to HL2 as soon as I finish all my projects for MP2 but that may end up taking a while longer.
