  • Grim: A Tale of Death

Hey, for god knows how long I've been working on a series called Grim: A Tale of Death. I thought I should bring it over to the Alan Wake forums as the game played a huge part in creating the atmosphere and style of the series, as you can see from the pictures. In terms of story, it's nothing a like, In a very small nutshell it follows a group of Grim Reapers. The Grim Reaper, Angel of Death, Father Time, Shinigami are widely known across many cultures and religions as the personification of death and guides the souls of those who have recently died to the afterlife… or the underworld. Our story focuses on what happens in-between these guided trips. The stories these beings encounter in the in-between realm. It's more of modern mash up of Lord of The Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones).

However stylistically, Alan wake has played a very big part. From colour, to tone, to art-direction and the building of suspense I have Rememdy to thank. As well as Petri Alanko, I would spend many nights listening to his work.

The reason why I come to the remedy forums after, according to my last visit, 2 years is because I'm looking for help from the online community. We've involved as much as the community here in Wales as much as we can (auditioning school kids, bringing on those who want to help) but now to spread the word, we need the help of the interwebs to help make Grim. I've launched a crowdfunding scheme to try and get the series off the ground before October. We've been selected to attend Europe’s only web series festival (marseille webfest) and need at least an episode done before then. The gamers I’ve asked have been quite ruthless in their responses so I'm not sure how this is going to weigh out leaving it here, but being such a big influence there's no harm in trying.

f you could check out the campaign here (I would be totally honoured) you can see how passionate we are about the project - indiegogo -, we need all the help we can get making sure we finish this. We don't have any of those nonsense perks either that drive me insane where they ask you for $25 and in return you get a postcard! We have real rewards for real pledges.

If you've taken the time to read this I thank you, and if you have checked you the campaign I am truly thankful.

If you have any questions, just ask.

    Take care

    Lewis

Thanks AnttiApina, a much kinder response than those on IGN. (also, have you had the same avatar for the last two years? haha )

(on a side note I've only just noticed how many typos were included in my OP )

First of all, fantastic work on the production and congratulations for getting invited to the festival.

I'll have a better look at the whole thing later on, but if you wanted to get a good idea about setting up attractive rewards and pages, some of my favourite recent crowd-funded projects have been Carmageddon and Tex Murphy:

        Remedy's currently known projects:

We've hit our target now guys with 5 days to go too, so it's likely we can expand the scale of Grim and bring in the scrapped scenes and so forth. Thanks to those shared the campaign.

Here's a horror game that is in production. I had a part in the concept art side of it, so I'm obviously biased. But I think it's going to be amazing!

Grim looks interesting. I'm actually a bit surprised that I haven't heard about this until now. Seems high-quality.

Re: Grim: A Tale of Death

The Grim Reaper from your perspective is also known with 2 names in Ancient Greek Mythology(My country's) as Charon(Χάρος) or Thanatos(Θάνατος). I also have never heard of this game before. If you added it in Kickstarter, I'd love to help you out by donating it.

If you need any translation for the other countries being asked for, don't hesitate to ask around.

Good luck, and congratulations for this game. I hope to have the chance to play it.
The game can take you in a journey of fantasy, cause your mind is the creator of fantasy !
