  • The Goon

Dont know how many folk here have read or even heard of Eric Powells 'The Goon' (seriously, its in a league of its own), but they showed some teaser footage from the cgi version coming soon.

I say coming soon, but it seems this awesome project doesnt have studio backing. Clancy Brown provides the voice of The Goon, while Paul Giamatti is the voice of Franky.

    Now, The Goon....(from wikipedia)

"The Goon is a comic book series by Eric Powell. The series has a distinctly paranormal slant, with the average story concerning ghosts, ghouls, skunk-apes with an unnatural hunger for pie, extra-dimensional aliens, and mad scientists."

If you havn't heard of it and like comics I couldnt reccomend it higher, and if you dont then this movie could be for you anyways.

I can't wait for this movie. It looks like it's going to do the comics justice, too, which is a bit of a surprise. I guess it's going to be straight to DVD. Worth it, though, to get a decent adaption.

Oh, and... Knife to the eye!

      Re: The Goon

Woooo, a fellow Goon reader :-) If it is straight to DVD thats fine, means I get to watch it again and again and again. But a cinema release could be (possibly) in 3D, now that would be an epic KNIFE TO THE EYE.

I just went to preorder Fancy Pants (vol.3) found out my copy of (vol.1) is $500 new or $250 preowned on Amazon lol.

        Re: The Goon

Goon fans seem to be pretty rare on the internet, don't they?

Well, straight to DVD does have a lot of advantages... But I think this would be the only movie I'd watch in 3-D!

Holy cow, that much? That's pretty good! Best keep it safe, man! I haven't read any of the fancy pants volumes, though. Any good?

They are good, but they are just reprinted stories, volume 1 is all the Goons origins in chronological order, book 2 is all of the Dr. Hieronymous Alloy stories in one book and no idea what volume 3 will be yet.

I just picked up 7,8 and 9 today The book titles are just fantastic, Virtue and the Grim Consequences Thereof is probably one of my favorites.
