            Nope, Revelation is a direct sequel to the first. Those who've played the games will understand the ways in which it ties into the first film. For those who haven't, it'll become clear when they see the film.

              I think that'd work a lot better for Silent Hill than it did for Resident Evil. At least Silent Hill has tried to remain true to the characters in the games, whilst Anderson's Resident Evil franchise has made a mess of it all (the previous film was fun, though. Wesker was all kinds of hammy goodness).
